Using Credit Cards, GoFundMe, Loans and Crowdfunding to Cover Treatment Costs

  • Residential treatment can be expensive. You have several options when you’re looking to finance treatment.
  • Borrow from your personal savings or retirement account.
  • Consider less risky options, such as using personal savings or borrowing from friends or family, before more risky options that may include high interest rates.
  • LendingTree – 24×7 Lending Group – The Lending Club – Discover Loans – United Lending Services
  • Raise money through crowdfunding sites, which make it fairly easy to set up a campaign. Websites such as GoFundMe, IndieGoGo and Crowdrise allow you to create a campaign in a few easy clicks and then share the link with your friends and family.
  • Take out a home equity loan.
  • Take out a loan through a bank or a loan company.
  • Look into health care credit cards such as with Care Credit.
  • When a child has a college fund, it may be a good time to use it.
  • Consult Your CPA: Some expenses for therapeutic schools can be deducted from your income tax return as medical expenses. When you own your own business, you likely have WAY more creative options for deducting medical expenses. Typical Cost: $200/hr for a good CPA to walk you through when and how to deduct from taxes.
